Progress to Date
The NSW Government is the largest employer of apprentices in New South Wales, with 1,947 apprentices currently in training. Over two-thirds of these (1,284) work in the energy state-owned corporations. Over the last seven years, the numbers of apprenticeship commencements per year in state government agencies has increased by 320 per cent, rising from 171 in 2000 to 548 in 2007.
Since 1 January 2000, 898 people have successfully completed their apprenticeship while 301 apprentices have withdrawn or cancelled.
