Wholesale Services - Variation to a Vocational Training Order and establishment of a traineeship vocation The Commissioner for Vocational Training (Commissioner), in consultation with the NSW Wholesale, Retail and Personal Services Industry Training Advisory Body, has varied the existing Vocational Training Order (VTO) for the traineeship vocation of Wholesale Services. The Commissioner has also established the traineeship vocation of Wholesale Services (Certificate II/Certificate III combined) and made the VTO for the new vocation. The VTOs contain qualifications from the SIR07 Retail Services Training Package. The VTOs specify a number of matters including the terms of training, probationary periods, competency outcomes and courses of study to be undertaken. A copy of the VTOs supporting the traineeship vocations is at Attachment A. SIR07 Retail Services Training Package SIR07 integrates three previous Training Packages: WRR02 Retail Training Package, WRW01 Wholesale Training Package and WRP02 Community Pharmacy Training Package. Qualifications For the purpose of the revised VTOs, Wholesale Services trainees in New South Wales will now be able to gain the following qualifications:
*new traineeship The packaging and structure requirements for the qualifications to which these VTOs apply are outlined at Attachment B. Job descriptions Trainees will become competent to work as counter sales assistants, telephone salespersons, customer service officers and sales representative in a variety of wholesale settings, such as trade, building, furniture parts and equipment suppliers. Trainees will initially learn to provide face-to-face and telephone product and service advice, selling products and services, use computers for business and e-commerce processes, process purchases and picking and processing orders. At the Certificate III level, trainees will also learn how to work as sales representatives calling on existing customers and cold calling to attract new customers. Industrial arrangements Applications under the Apprenticeship and Traineeship Act 2001 to establish any apprenticeship or traineeship will not be approved unless the Commissioner for Vocational Training is satisfied that appropriate industrial arrangements are in place. Industrial arrangements under which wholesale services trainees can be employed are listed at Attachment C. School based apprenticeships and traineeships The NSW Wholesale, Retail and Personal Services Industry Training Advisory Body has recommended SIR20307 Certificate II in Wholesale as suitable for delivery as a school based part-time traineeship. Wholesale Services (Certificate II/Certificate III combined) is not recommended as suitable for delivery in schools. Licensing There are no licensing requirements for these traineeships.
