Health Services - Vocational Training Order for the recognised traineeship vocation of Health Services - Supervision The Commissioner for Vocational Training (Commissioner), in consultation with the NSW Community Services and Health Industry Training Advisory Body (ITAB), has varied the existing Vocational Training Order (VTO) for the recognised traineeship vocation of Health Services. The variations are:
The VTO specifies a number of matters including the term of training, probationary period, competency outcomes and course of study to be undertaken. A copy of the VTO supporting the recognised traineeship vocation of Health Services – Supervision is at Attachment A. HLT40407 Certificate IV in Health Supervision This qualification covers workers in the role of a supervisor or senior workplace trainer in a functional or operational unit/service in a healthcare setting providing health support services, health technical services, health care services, health professional support services and health administration services. When HLT02 was reviewed HLT42202 and HLT40402 were combined. This addressed gaps in the individual qualifications and enhanced coverage of Client Safety. The result was a single qualification - HLT40407 Certificate IV in Health Supervision. Qualification For the purpose of the VTO in NSW, successful trainees will be able to gain HLT40407 Certificate IV in Health Supervision. The units of competency, packaging and structure requirements for HLT40407 Certificate IV in Health Supervision are at Attachment B. Industrial arrangements Applications under the Apprenticeship and Traineeship Act 2001 to establish any apprenticeship or traineeship will not be approved unless the Commissioner is satisfied that appropriate industrial arrangements are in place. Industrial arrangements under which Health Services – Supervision trainees can be employed are listed at Attachment C. Vocational Education and Training in Schools (VETS) The ITAB has advised that HLT40407 Certificate IV in Health Supervision is not a suitable school based traineeship pathway. For all the school based, part-time traineeships currently being delivered in NSW see http://www.sbatinnsw.info/traineeships.php?t=employer Learning resources and assessment materials Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) are advised to visit NavigatingNSW for essential information about delivering training in NSW for this area of the health industry.
