APPRENTICESHIP AND TRAINEESHIP ACT 2001

NOTICE OF MAKING A VOCATIONAL TRAINING ORDER

The following Vocational Training Order is made under section 6 of the Apprenticeship and Traineeship Act 2001 in relation to the recognised traineeship vocation of Security Operations.

Citation

The Order is cited as the Security Operations Order.

Order

The Order is given below.

(a) Training

Training will be undertaken in the following Security Operations Class 1 licence subclasses.

(b) Term of training

(i) Full-time

Training shall be given for a nominal term of

or until achievement of the relevant competencies to this Vocational Training Order is demonstrated.

(ii) Part-time

Traineeships may be undertaken on a part-time basis where appropriate industrial arrangements are in place.

The nominal term for a part-time traineeship is determined by the weekly hours worked in the traineeship (including structured training) and the nominal full-time term for that traineeship.

PRS20103 Certificate II in Security Operations

Part-time trainees must be employed for a minimum average of 24 hours per week.

The nominal terms for these traineeships would be between 12 and 21 months based on the table below.

PRS30103 Certificate III in Security Operations

Part-time trainees must be employed for a minimum average of 30 hours per week.

The nominal term for these traineeships would be 15 months.

(c) Probationary period

The probationary period, based on the 12 months nominal term of training for the traineeships established under this Vocational Training Order, shall be 1 month.

(d) Competency outcomes

Trainees will be trained in and achieve competence in the units of competence specified in the endorsed PRS03 Asset Security Training Package.

(e) Courses of study to be undertaken

Trainees will undertake the following courses of study from the PRS03 Asset Security Training Package.

  • PRS20103 Certificate II in Security Operations
  • PRS30103 Certificate III in Security Operations

(f) Additional requirements

For Security Operations traineeships, the traineeship pathways will be as follows:

  • attainment of the appropriate Provisional licence issued by the Security Industry Registry
  • employment as a trainee and
  • approval of a traineeship training contract.

Note: satisfactory completion of the traineeship, including the nationally recognised qualification and the relevant on the job competencies will satisfy requirements for a full Class 1 licence issued by the Security Industry Registry.

Date of Effect

The Order will take effect from the date of publication in the NSW Government Gazette.

(ii) Part-time

Traineeships may be undertaken on a part-time basis where appropriate industrial arrangements are in place.

The nominal term for a part-time traineeship is determined by the average weekly hours worked in the traineeship (including structured training) and the nominal full-time term for that traineeship.

Trainees will be trained in and achieve competence in the units of competency specified in the endorsed PRS03 Asset Security Training Package.

(d) Courses of study to be undertaken

Trainees will undertake the PRS30303 Certificate III in Investigative Services course from the PRS03 Asset Security Training Package.

(e) Additional requirements

Trainees must not carry on investigative activities unless they hold a Commercial Agents and Private Inquiry Agents licence that  authorises "Investigation of Persons" and "Surveillance of Persons". This licence is issued by the Security Industry Registry.

Date of Effect

The Order will take effect from the date of publication in the NSW Government Gazette.
