School Based Traineeships - Vocational Training Orders

New South Wales has introduced a model for school based apprenticeships and traineeships. The model brought in changes to current school based traineeship arrangements. These changes were ratified in the Vocational Training Guideline “Training arrangements for school based apprenticeships and traineeships” issued on 16 November 2007.

Vocational Training Orders

Where applicable, Vocational Training Orders (VTOs) have been varied to reflect new training arrangements for school based part-time traineeships. Initially, the automotive, construction (including plumbing services), electrotechnology, hospitality and metal and engineering industry areas are being addressed.

Automotive

The revised VTO for the following traineeship vocation is at Attachment A:

Vocational Education in Schools (VEiS)

Industry stakeholders may identify which traineeships qualifications are suitable for delivery as school based traineeships.

Additional traineeship categories may be added, as delivery arrangements are agreed at the local level.
