APPRENTICESHIP AND TRAINEESHIP TRAINING ACT 2001

NOTICE OF MAKING OF A VOCATIONAL TRAINING ORDER

Notice is given that the Commissioner for Vocational Training, in pursuance of section 6 of the Apprenticeship and Traineeship Act 2001, has made the following Vocational Training Order in relation to the recognised traineeship vocation of Asset Security.

Citation

The order is cited as the Asset Security Order.

Order

A summary of the Order is given below.

(a) Term of training

(i) Full-time

Training shall be given, via direct entry, for a nominal term of:

or until achievement of the relevant competencies to this Vocational Training Order is demonstrated.

(ii) Part-time

Security Operations

  • 1(A) Security Guarding and Patrols Certificate II in Security Operations PRS20103 – full time or part time at 24 hours per week. The trainee must be employed as a permanent part time employee with not less than 24 hours employment per week.
  • 1(B) Security Body Guarding – Certificate III in Security Operations PRS30103 - full time or part time at 30 hours per week. The trainee must be employed as a permanent part time employee with not less than 30 hours employment per week.
  • 1(C) Crowd Control Certificate II in Security Operations PRS20103 – full time or part time at 24 hours per week. The trainee must be employed as a permanent part time employee with not less than 24 hours employment per week.
  • 1(D) Security Dog Handler - Certificate III in Security Operations PRS30103 - full time or part time at 30 hours per week. The trainee must be employed as a permanent part time employee with not less than 30 hours employment per week.
  • 1(E) Security Monitoring Centre Operations - Certificate III in Security Operations PRS30103 - full time or part time at 30 hours per week. The trainee must be employed as a permanent part time employee with not less than 30 hours employment per week.
  • 1(G) Loss Prevention Officer - Certificate II in Security Operations PRS20103 - full time or part time at 24 hours per week. The trainee must be employed as a permanent part time employee with not less than 24 hours employment per week.

Technical Security and Investigative Services

The nominal term for a part time traineeship is determined by the average weekly hours worked in the traineeship (including structured training) and the nominal full-time term for that traineeship.

The table below identifies the allowable hours which may be undertaken and the nominal terms for part-time traineeships.

(b) Competency outcomes

Trainees will be trained in and achieve competence in the units of competency specified in the Asset Security Training Package PRS03.

(c) Courses of study to be undertaken

Trainees will undertake the following courses of study:

Certificate II in Security Operations PRS20103
Certificate II in Technical Security PRS20203
Certificate III in Security Operations PRS30103
Certificate III in Technical Security PRS30203
Certificate III in Investigative Services PRS30303
Certificate IV in Security and Risk Management PRS40103

Additional requirements

For Security Operations traineeships, the traineeship pathway will be as follows:

  • satisfactory completion of the criminal record check
  • enrolment and completion of the required pre-licensing course. This includes the Certificate I in Security Operations and additional TAFE NSW modules
  • attainment of the appropriate provisional licence issued by the Security Industry Registry
  • employment as a trainee
  • approval of a traineeship training contract
  • training in the relevant nationally recognised qualification as specified in the VTO
  • satisfactory completion of the traineeship, including the nationally recognised qualification
  • demonstration of satisfactory completion of training and regulatory requirements to attain the appropriate full licence in security guarding issued by the Security Industry Registry.
