Manufacturing Engineering - Establishment of the recognised trade vocation of Drafting Trade (Structural Design) and repeal of the existing trade vocation of Drafting Trade (Structural) At the request of the Construction Industry Training Advisory Body (NSW), the Commissioner for Vocational Training has established the recognised trade vocation of Drafting Trade (Structural Design) and the repeal of the existing trade vocation of Drafting Trade (Structural) under section 5 of the Apprenticeship and Traineeship Act 2001, and has approved the relevant Vocational Training Order (VTO) under section 6 of the same Act. The new VTO specifies a Certificate IV in Structural Design 91154 NSW (VETAB accredited on 13 October 2004) pending the development an appropriate training package qualification. Vocational Training Order Standard Format The VTO in each instance may make reference to:
A copy of the relevant VTO supporting the recognised trade vocation of Drafting Trade (Structural Design) is at Attachment A. Learning resources and assessment materials Information is available from TAFE NSW at http://www.tafe.nsw.edu.au/ Industrial arrangements Draughtsmen, Planners, Technical Officers & c. (State) Award. Availability of Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) TAFE NSW is the provider of this qualification. TAFE has well-established programs and a strong relationship with the ITAB. It is not seen as necessary to widen the range of providers. Vocational Education and Training in schools This higher-level apprenticeship (Certificate IV) will not be available as a school-based apprenticeship. Licensing There are no licensing requirements relevant to this qualification.
