Commissioners Information Bulletin 141a
Issued: 16 October 2000

Clarification of VT5 Lodgement Criteria for Security Industry Traineeships - Amendment to CIB 141

Industry Training Services Centres (ITSCs) and New Apprenticeships Centres (NACs) have sought clarification of CIB 141 criteria for the lodgement of VT5s in the Certificate II and III Security (Guarding).

To clarify clarification the lodgement criteria the following amendment to CIB 141 is made:

NoteNote: Applications (VT5) lodged with Industry Training Services Centres with a traineeship commencement date on or after 4 September 2000 are to be returned to the New Apprenticeships Centre for lodgement with the Vocational Training Board.

ITSCs should deal with applications with commencement dates prior to 4 September 2000 under standard ITSC processing arrangements.

CIB 141 was introduced to assist the NSW Police Service in administering the Security Industries Act 1997. Any application lodged in the Security Guarding traineeships should meet the criteria in that CIB. Ie:

A copy of the NSW Police Service Security Industry Registry Authority for Pre-Training Criminal Record Check form P 607), with evidence of a   SUITABLE  assessment of the trainee by the Police Security Registry, and a training plan is to be provided with applications to establish a traineeship in Certificate II and III Security (Guarding).

As a result of consultation with the NSW Police Service a copy of a current NSW Security Industry Licence is acceptable evidence of a person having been assessed as SUITABLE by the NSW Police Security Industry Registry.

PhoneFor any enquiries regarding this CIB, please contact the Vocational Training Tribunal Unit on (02) 9266 8579.
