Commissioners Information Bulletin 046
Issued: 8 April 1999

Addendum to CIB 46 Security (Guarding) Traineeship Certificates II & III - Clarification of the nominal term of training

The above traineeships were granted interim registration in March 1999. It was the industry’s intention at the time that the traineeships (Certificates II & III) be each of 6 months duration.

Industry has identified two distinct pathways, which can lead to a Certificate III Security (Guarding) traineeship outcome. It will be the responsibility of the employer to select the most appropriate pathway.

The two pathways are as follows:

  1. Undertaking a Certificate II traineeship in Security (Guarding) of 6 months duration and on completion registration in a Certificate III traineeship in Security (Guarding), also of 6 months duration.
  2. Direct entry into the Cert III Security (Guarding) traineeship for a nominal term of 1 year.

Refer to:NOTE: Part-time arrangements
Part-time arrangements for Certificate II trainees shall be pro-rata in accordance with arrangements under CIB 21 and shall be established for periods ranging from 8 to 15 months as required to meet weekly hours of work and training.

CREDIT
Where an applicant for the Certificate III in Security (Guarding) traineeship has completed an approved course with an RTO and been issued with an AQF Certificate II, the agreed procedure is to enter a credit of 6 months towards the Certificate III traineeship.

PhoneFor any enquiries regarding these training arrangements, please contact the Vocational Training Board on (02) 9266-8579.
