Watchmaking - Interim Arrangements for Approving Alternate course of Study

Since 1999 watchmaking apprenticeships have been established under the auspices of the Engineering (Mechanical) trade vocation and Vocational Training Order (VTO).  Pending the development of appropriate Units of Competence in the Metal and Engineering Training Package specified in the VTO an alternate course of studies has been made available to address the needs of watchmaking.

Apprentices in watchmaking should undertake the Certificate III in Watch and Clock Making course (NSW TAFE course No. 17521).

NoteNote: the National Course Code is 91376NSW.

On approval of a Training Contract a Vocational Training Direction (VTD), under Section 10 of the Apprenticeship and Traineeship Act is to be issued to Training Contract parties on behalf of the Commissioner for Vocational Training by the following NSW Department of Education and Training, State Training Centre staff:

  • Manager;
  • Team Leader;
  • Training Co-ordinator.
