Issued: 2 January 2001

For training contracts commenced on or after 1 January 2002, all terms and credit must be in years and months only. The Training Contract (TC) has no provision to show weeks the nominal term of training is shown in months.

Conversion of weeks
For consistency the rules are:Periods less than 13 weeks are to be treated as follows:

  • less than 2 weeks – No allowance
  • more than 2 weeks and less than 6 weeks is 1 month
  • more than 6 weeks and less than 11 weeks is 2 months
  • more than 11 weeks and up to 13 weeks is 3 months

For periods greater than 13 weeks:

  • Calculate each 13 week period as 3 months, the balance is then treated as above.

Examples:

Period is 32 weeks
 = (2 x 13) + 6 weeks
 = 6 months + 1 month
Total allowed= 7 months

Period is 32 ½ weeks
 = (2 x 13) + 6 ½ weeks
  6 months + 2 months
Total allowed= 8 months
