Alternate Course of Training - Jewellery
(Manufacturing and Repair)
Issued: 3 March 2004
CIB231 advised that
a new Vocational Training Order (VTO) had been established
approving the recognised trade vocation of Jewellery
(Manufacturing and Repair).
The VTO specified the Certificate
III in Jewellery Manufacture MEM30803, from
the Metals and Engineering Training Package MEM98 – Jewellery
Extension, as the new qualification to support the
apprenticeship. This qualification is currently not
available for delivery by TAFE NSW.
The Commissioner for Vocational Training has identified
the former trade course, Certificate
III in Jewellery Trade Course No. 5474, as appropriate
to be undertaken as an alternative course of training
pursuant to section 10 of the Apprenticeship
and Traineeship Act 2001. The Certificate
III in Jewellery Trade Course No. 5474 is the
previous trade course, which TAFE will continue to provide
until advised otherwise.
Until further notice, all training contracts lodged
with the Commissioner for Vocational Training which propose
to establish an apprenticeship in the recognised trade
vocation of Jewellery (Manufacturing and Repair) should
be amended to reflect the above approved alternative
training arrangements.
Training Co-ordinators are approved to issue Vocational
Training Directions that specify the alternative course
of training, Certificate III in Jewellery
Trade Course No. 5474, in respect to apprenticeships
established in the recognised trade vocation of Jewellery
(Manufacturing and Repair).
