Transition Arrangements for Training Package Qualifications under Apprenticeship and Traineeship Arrangements

Issued: 19 May 2009

Transition arrangements provide that both old and new qualifications will be recognised for the delivery of apprenticeship and/or traineeship training for three months after a new or revised Vocational Training Order has come into effect.

The three month period provides time for technical, funding, program and registration issues to be resolved. Where eligible, registered training organisations will be funded for delivering either the old or new qualification/s to new apprentices or trainees who enrol and commence their training during this three month transition period.

Under these arrangements a newly approved apprentice or trainee can be enrolled in either the old or new qualification for three months after the new or revised Vocational Training Order has come into effect. However, consideration should always be given to enrol the apprentice or trainee in the latest qualification.

At the end of the transition period, new apprentices or trainees must be enrolled in the new qualification.
