Advice and Instructions Supervision and Occupational Health and Safety Training Issued: 21 December 2001 Employer responsibilities for supervision and occupational health and safety (OHS) training of employees are contained in the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2000, Part 2 Division 1, Clause 8 and Occupational Health and Safety Regulation 2001. It is considered that Clauses 272-273 and 274 of this Regulation (pages 217, 218 and 219), whilst they relate to supervision of trainees doing scheduled work under the OH&S Act, are suitable guidelines for determining what constitutes adequate supervision for apprentices and trainees undertaking work/training in the workplace. However these clauses of Regulation 2001 must only be used as a guide and cannot be quoted as a legislative or regulatory requirement for any employment unless the apprentice/trainee is actually undertaking Scheduled work as defined.
