NSW School Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships Forum

The NSW school based apprenticeships and traineeships forum was held on Thursday 31 August 2006.

The forum was hosted by the NSW Department of Education and Training and chaired by Bert Evans AO, Chair, Board of Vocational Education and Training.

Over 130 people attended the forum. Participants included representatives from industry, employer groups, unions, group training organisations, the school sector, TAFE NSW, training organisations and Australian Apprenticeships Centres.

The speakers engaged the audience on a range of issues pertaining to the NSW model for school based apprenticeships and traineeships. Speakers:

  • talked about the context for the model
  • described the model in detail
  • explained how the model fits with the HSC
  • outlined industrial issues.
